Reactions to Industrial Revolution

As with anything new, there are going to be growing pains.  The important part of growing pains is that we learn from them and we try to do better in the future.

Of the "growing pains" we studied, what do you think was the most important one that has been addressed and what is the one that you believe still needs to be fixed?

  1. I think that the most important growing pain that got addressed was the water and sewage systems in urban settings and the growing pain that still needs fixing i think is low minimum wages in some countries as well as child labor and bad working conditions.

  3. The industrial revolution impacted the whole environment, huge increase in population, then cause the standard of living to shoot up. The increase of chemicals and such put bad pollution in the air, and water pollution as well. I believe that we need to fix how much pollution is being put out in the world but without those things our cars wouldn't run and our houses wouldn't be heated, i think we should start with the oceans because the oceans really impacted us, but we need to find a better way to almost filter the chemicals through before letting them enter earth's atmosphere. -db

  5. Xan Burnard -The most major growing pain of the industrial revolution was the child labor. the child labor was out of hand with extreme hours, and terrible accommodations but has since been fixed by some laws. A growing pain that has not been addressed is the pollution coming from factories. the factories pollution has been helped but not fixed by using hydro and aero power.

  6. Out of the many growing pains of the industrial revolution I believe that the boom in city population which led to their poor quality would be one of the worst. The health and safety standards would be very low and it would not be a place I want to live. One that still needs to be fixed would be working conditions and child labor. Where we live we are very fortunate and it is very easy to forget about the poor conditions others live in. Martina

  8. I think the most important growing pain that was addressed has been the working conditions. Throughout the years the working conditions for people were very poor and often abusing and harmful. over the Years in most places laws have been put in to create a safe work environment in the workforce. One problem that still needs to be fixed that has arose is pollution. the revolution of industry allowed pollution to fill the air and oceans in our life and has much talk going on about global warming. -Meadow

  10. One thing I believe needs to be fixed is overpopulation. With the planet supporting nearly 7.8 billion people today it is overwhelming. the main cause of overpopulation is indeed the industrial revolution. The industrial revolution has allowed humans to live longer, live safer, and have more children. With new medicines and safer means of survival such as shelter and plentiful amounts of food, the world is a better place and is much more enjoyable to us. However we are overpopulated thus contributing to environmental issues, etc... so the industrial revolution mad everyone lives better but at a cost. this hasn't been fixed and our population continues to grow and cities become much larger. By 2050 the world is expected to have a population of 10.5 billion and how many people is too much? is it already too much?

  11. I believe that the most important issue that we discussed was child labour because children were forced to work in horrible environments and learn that it’s ok for them to be treated so badly. Child labour laws don’t completely get rid of the issue but I believe we have made a lot of improvements. We still have a lot of environmental issues that need to be resolved because we can’t take away the damage that we do to the world. 🌎

  12. a growing pain of the industrial revolution is the increase of pollution. This is one of the major "growing pains" of the revolution. it has been addressed and we are working towards solution today. A "growing pain" of the industrial revolution that still has not been fixed is, child labor and poor conditions. This is a solved problem in many countries but it still in a problem in tons of countries with weak governments

  13. One growing pain that has been addressed is pollution. Although it is still a major problem that can be fixed a lot more still it has become something that has improved over the years. We have found alternative ways for example to get energy instead of polluting the air. This includes using wind, tidal and solar energy instead of burning fossil fuels into the air. This is one way we have addressed this problem. One thing that still needs to be fixed is how much we cut down trees. Deforestation was brought about during the revolution because of the need for space and lumber. Lots of habitats get taken away. Some places are worse than others but its something we don't think about and we need to give back to earth as much as we take.-KM

  14. The Industrial Revolution brought upon many changes, a combination of good and bad. Some of those bad changes/challenges have been made better by putting new rules into place. One challenge was not having labor laws that were fair to workers. over the years people realized how unfair these workers were treated and laws/rules were set in place. these rules are still in place today. On the other hand though the factors and ways we try to achieve business can cause serious damages to the environment that have still not been resolved today. with a huge demand for things today pollution continues to grow and get worse. 16. I think child labour was the most important one to be addressed because kids should be allowed to be kids. It’s beyond unfair to make them work like an adult for terrible to no pay at all. However some countries still have no child labour laws and I think that in those countries that needs to be fixed.
