Yesterday you read some accounts of conditions in early industrial revolution factories and today you acted out some scenes.  What were some things that were wrong with the early factories?  If you were in charge of improving conditions, what would be the first thing you would want to change & why?

Standard of Living

We did some comparisons between 18th Century Europe and Modern Canada and their standard of living.  Standard of Living is the level of comfort and wealth available &/or expected of a certain socio-economic group or geographic region.

What is a pro and con of having a lower standard of living and a pro and con of having a higher standard of living?

At the beginning of the unit we discussed the difference between freedom and order and how extremes of these will cause chaos.  From what we have studied so far in the French Revolution, please find an example of each of these.

Modern Revolution

We have talked about the difference between Evolutionary Change and Revolutionary Change.  Evolutionary is slow and gradual whereas Revolutionary is quick and complete.  Look around the news.  Can you see any revolutionary changes happening?  These can be political, physical, economical, natural... State what is the event and why you believe it is revolutionary.

Most Common Acculturation

We studied 4 types of acculturation in this unit: Accommodation, Assimilation, Annihilation, and Segregation.  We also looked at a few examples of colonization and the acculturation that occurred in these cases.  What would you say would be the most common type of acculturation that occurred during the Imperialism Age of when colonization was at its peak?  Give a brief explanation that supports your opinion.
